Gary Hubert served in the Army until he was diagnosed with a debilitating illness. Today, he is one of the estimated 30,000 people who receive emergency food from the Harry Chapin Food Bank and its 150 partner agencies.
Multiple sclerosis changed Gary’s life forever. The illness forced him to leave the Army. He is wheelchair-bound and struggles to pay his bills. He turns to one of Harry Chapin Food Bank’s partner agencies to put food on the table. “It was the hardest decision I had to make was coming here. … I was just scraping by. Now, I’m actually able to get by.”
