Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida invites you to join our honored list of sponsors supporting the 2016 WINK News Feeds Families Hunger Walk. We value their help and seek more businesses and individuals who want to join in the mission to fight hunger in Southwest Florida.
The eighth annual walk, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 16, is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the food bank. The two-mile, non-competitive, family and pet-friendly walk will be held at the Miromar Outlets in Estero.
This year’s goal is $330,000. The Walk supports emergency food programs that feed children, families, seniors and others in need through the food bank’s network of 150 partner agencies. These agencies operate food pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs that serve 30,000 Southwest Floridians each month.
Sponsorship is an opportunity to let the public see your commitment to the community’s quality of life and willingness to give back. All funds from the Walk will stay in the Southwest Florida area.
Each $1 donated can provide $6 in food value. If we reach our goal, that means almost $2 million to help the Harry Chapin Food Bank solicit, collect and distribute quality food to people in need in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties.
Last fiscal year, the food bank distributed 18.4 million pounds of food and other grocery items, valued at $31.3 million. This was the equivalent of 15.3 million meals.
The walk is presented by Garden Street Companies and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. More sponsorships are available. Supporters can also form teams to raise money and participate in the event.
