All the support we receive here at the Harry Chapin Food Bank is extremely valued and appreciated. This week we would like to highlight a handful of corporate and community contributions that are making a big difference.
Recently we received a $1,000 grant from The CarMax Foundation to honor volunteer service at the Food Bank by several CarMax employees. CarMax is just one of many companies with volunteer-grant or “dollars for doers” programs. Ask your Human Resources department if your company offers a similar program, and get in touch with Tanya Phillips, Volunteer Manager, to set up a volunteer group (239-334-7007 x141 or email@example.com).
We also received a $700 donation from The American Association of University Women Lee/Fort Myers chapter. AAUW is dedicated to improving the lives of women -- their donation will help families in need!
In late July we received a very generous $2,500 gift from the Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa resulting from their “Spirit to Serve” employee program.
About two months ago, representatives from AllState toured the food bank and awarded us a $1,000 grant.
Not to be outdone, Chico’s FAS, Inc. held a company-wide food drive in July and collected 1,138 pounds of food.
Last but not least, last week members of the Fort Myers Inner Wheel Club and Fort Myers Rotary East toured the Harry Chapin Food Bank and presented checks from their clubs. The Fort Myers Inner Wheel Club donated $600 and the Fort Myers Rotary East donated $500. The combined donation of $1,100 will enable the food bank to distribute over $6,600 in food to families in the community.
The Fort Myers East Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. every Wednesday at the Verandah Beef O’Brady’s to discuss ongoing and new service projects. For more information please go online to http://www.rotaryclubofftmyerseast.org/.
A big thank-you goes out to these and all of our donors and volunteers!
