    Publix Charities Donates $120,000 to HCFB

    The air was festive and the front loading dock of Harry Chapin Food Bank was a sea of green today, as a small army of Publix Super Markets officials and associates in their signature green shirts delivered a semi-tractor trailer load of food for those in need.

    And they brought even more green, the monetary kind, in the form of a $120,000 donation from Publix Super Markets Charities to buy a new refrigerated truck.

    The Blossoms for Birds event formally kicked off our Thanksgiving bird drive Monday and continues every day from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday.     For the fourth consecutive year, Bank of America and Feeding America, a nationwide network of 200 food banks across the country, including the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, are partnering in the Give A Meal Program.  For every $1 donated to the program now through Dec. 31, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will give $2 more, (up to $1,000 per donor) capped at a $50,000 match per food bank.

  • Turkeys sought for those in need as Thanksgiving draws near

    The Thanksgiving holiday is right around the corner and the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida needs to provide about 10,000 turkeys and chickens for families in need. The community can help by donating frozen holiday birds or making a financial contribution.

    The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida announces that the Comcast Foundation has awarded a $10,036 grant in support of the food bank’s volunteer program.
